Furniture Layout Planner

Plan your room before you move anything. Example exterior footprints only. Measure your actual furniture, including frames and handles.

Compare footprints, not catalogue photos

A furniture footprint should include the widest fixed part of the object. For a wardrobe, distinguish the cabinet depth from the space needed to open its doors. Add the largest pieces first, then test smaller tables and storage. Duplicate a piece to compare positions, but hide or remove alternatives before reading the overlap report.

Start with measurements, not assumptions

Measure the room and the exterior of every furniture piece before you start. The library contains editable examples, including beds, sofas, desks, storage and dining furniture. Preset dimensions are illustrative: they are not a retailer specification or a universal standard for a bed size. Include projecting handles and frames in the footprint. If an object opens, reclines or has drawers, note its movement space separately. Templates give you a starting arrangement, not a purchasing recommendation.

Compare positions with a clear 2D model

Drag pieces on the canvas or type their dimensions, position and rotation in the details panel. Lock objects that should stay fixed, hide an alternative, or duplicate the whole plan to compare arrangements without losing the first version. Optional grid snapping and alignment guides help you place pieces consistently. Undo and redo work on complete edits. Switch display units when discussing measurements without changing the physical dimensions of the model.

Read clearance and warnings carefully

Object clearance is measured between the boundaries of the rotated rectangles, rather than between their centres. Touching, overlap and outside-room positions have separate warnings. A shortest distance is not a check of an entire walking route, and the tight or comfortable labels are general planning references, not fire, accessibility or ergonomic certification. Door arcs are illustrations; confirm real door and cabinet movement yourself. The editor handles one rectangular space per plan, not connected rooms, structural design or a 3D property model.

Keep an editable backup and share intentionally

Your plan is processed in your browser without an account or upload. Local autosave stays in this browser and can be lost when site data is cleared, so export JSON for a portable backup. Importing creates a new plan instead of replacing your current one. A share link contains an encoded layout and is not encrypted: remove addresses or private labels before copying it. Export PNG for discussion, or use the browser print dialog to save a PDF. Keep the JSON as well if you want to edit the arrangement later.

FAQ

Does the furniture layout planner upload my plan?

No. Dimensions, labels and layout are processed locally in your browser. There is no plan-upload or account system. Hosting still handles ordinary website requests.

Are the furniture presets exact product dimensions?

No. They are editable example footprints. Measure the real exterior, including frames, arms and handles, before making a purchase.

Do clearance labels establish a safe route?

No. A shortest edge distance is a planning reference, not a complete route check or fire/accessibility certification.

How can I keep and edit the layout later?

Export JSON for a portable editable backup. PNG is an image, and the browser print dialog can save a PDF; neither replaces the JSON model.

Does opening a share link automatically save a plan?

No. The recipient first sees a temporary preview and can explicitly save a copy. Share links are not encrypted; remove private labels first.
